BATHROOM RENOVATION PLANS

In an effort to stay busy and keep my mind occupied I am diving into work.  You know that whole "idle mind" .....well it's a  bad thing on a normal basis but throw in a crisis and it can be downright crippling right?

So....I have a project in Boulder and it's not a flip!  Kind of exciting but it means I can't just run over and see if a wallpaper matches.  My "ground crew" has been very helpful sending me pictures and measurements to get me started.

Let's start with some pictures of the basement bath which is the room we are starting with.

OK....let's discuss.

He would like to keep the vanity and countertop.  So....I wracked my brain thinking of a way to do this.  The stone does have some dark gray in it which is a good thing because I wasn't feeling how black looked with it.  My thought is that the stone is very "loud" so it needed a little softening.

When I saw the penny tile mixed with the gray of this stone from The Tile Shop I felt I was on to something.  I could use that on the shower floor to bring the color of the countertop in the room somewhere else....

So here was my first plan....dark and moody.  I love the sconces with the smoky glass [Circa Lighting] against the Innovations wallpaper.  The hardware is from Rocky Mountain and the mirror from RH.  I love mixing the metals of brass and pewter.....

But if this is too dark for him I changed up the wallpaper to something lighter.

Only thing different is this Lindsay Cowles paper which I love!

OK....let's just say I could talk him into changing out the countertop.....I mean it seems like such a minor thing right:)  I can be pretty persuasive...haha.

A black top would change the whole game right?  The mirror is RH.  The wallpaper is Phillip Jeffries and lighting from Circa.  Hardware is Rocky Mountain.

But then.....
I couldn't let it go and thought what if the stone top was lighter?

This might be my favorite with the patterned floors.  The mirror is RH.  Lighting is Circa and the hardware is Rocky Mountain.  Tile is from The Tile Store.

So....favorite?  Keep the countertop?   Change to black or the stone....I really like all of them.

I will definitely keep you posted on this one.

I was invited to speak on a panel with a few of my fav designer friends at Mitchell Gold on Sunday night.  I met Justin Williams years ago through my friend Erika Ward....

He put together a group of us to inspire "youngsters" that want to get into the design business....it was so fun to feel the excitement that only comes with youth:)  Eager to soak up all the knowledge....although I told them that even after 25 years in the design business I am still learning....

I think it's good emotional practice to be in social situations when you are feeling one way on the inside but projecting "all things are fine" on the outside.  You can only wear the victim outfit for so long.....you know?

Hope you guys are having a good week....

ANOTHER PROJECT UPDATE

I mean really.....what is better than a 3 day weekend right? I did something that I have been wanting to do for months.....clean out my closet.

Yup.  All of my shoes had finally ended up on the floor and clothes were barely clinging to hangers.

I think I scared Cami because I just went in there and started tossing shoes out the closet door to the floor.

3 hours later....success.  Then after reading on Kathy's blog The Good Life of Design I decided to trying selling some things on Poshmark.

We will see how that goes as it's just another thing I have to figure out and keep up with!

I have some updates on my friend Melissa's new house which posted about  here.

She is about a month away from closing and the decisions we made last January are finally coming together.  When you meet with the builder to pick things out I have one word of advice.

OK.....2 words.......Stay neutral.

AND.....don't roll your eyes but we stayed with mostly #blackandwhite finishes for the reason that I'm me...... and thats what I like:)

All kidding aside it's always classic and when you go to sell.....it won't look dated.  #truth

So here is a picture of the kitchen....

Backsplash isn't  grouted yet but taking the tile to the ceiling was money well spent [upcharge].

The honed black granite....

The honed Carrara marble on the island.

The day we made our selections.

So excited!

This is the powder room right off the kitchen.

You remember we are using the Lindsay Cowles wallpaper....and circa lighting sconces.

I ordered this cool mirror from Four Hands so I can't wait for this baby to come together.

This is the main entry with a very small foyer.  I had picked a chandelier [that I thought would work] but guess what?  There's not enough clearance so we had to move it to the top of the stairs.

Whew....that was dicy.
It will go here instead with 10 ft ceilings but definitely shortened.

Here are 3 flush mounts I sent her [for the foyer] and with price consideration we chose the one in the middle from Shades of Light.

The railings have the same stain as the floors.  So I have been looking at carpet runners.

Here are the sconces going up the stairs....The color of all the doors is SW Dorian Gray.  The Thibaut grasscloth wallpaper is going up the second step of stairs [3 floors].  This first one is wool and the most $$$.

This one is more reasonable and probably won't show as much dirt.

And.....this is the most appealing because it is indoor/outdoor and will look good against the ebony floors.

I'll keep you posted. [all samples from Myers Carpet]

Upstairs bathroom.....

Here is the wall the TV is going on which will also get the grass cloth....then to the right is the other set of stairs.

And this pretty chandelier for the master closet!

The master bedroom plan.....

Master bath

Hedgewood Homes always nails the landscaping for their projects!

And thats a wrap......

Have a great short week!

NEW DESIGN PLAN

Crikey I am so glad it's Friday.  How about you:)

I have to tell you that we watched the last season of the Netflix series Bloodline.  Y'all it was painful.

I remember watching the first 2 seasons and it was slow but season 3 took it to a new level.....like watching snails crawl.   Not only did it creep along.... the storyline was all over the place and the acting sucked.  I wanted to punch all of them in the face......for wasting my time.

I've got a new design plan to share with you today.

A friend of mine bought a place at Manchester by Hedgewood Homes.

I've been helping her put together the kitchen, lighting and furniture plan!

We are changing this suggestion a little by flipping the dining and LR.  There is actually not a balcony but a large window so we are putting the DR table there.....

In the kitchen we are doing white cabinets with a black island. Similar to the picture below.  White Carrara marble on the island and honed black granite on the perimeter cabinets.

THE BRADLEY SHOWROOM

Michelle Bradley opened her showroom on Miami Circle [Atlanta] in 2001 and moved to ADAC a few years ago.  I would describe her style as luxury but specializing in artisan-crafted American made furnishing, lighting, and accessories.

I strolled in the showroom the other day to see what was going on....especially since her chandelier The Lucile is one of my favorites.

Sigh....want.

While there I found great art, fabrics, wallpaper, and furniture.  So many awesome things!

Art:

Donna Hughes

Jane Winfield

Mali Azima

Amy Donaldson

Lighting:
The Marley

The Christopher

Furniture:
Dallas Etagere
Bianca Table

Fabrics:

Tania Vartan

Loving this black and gold with the bees!

You can get samples and see all the goodness in the showroom!

This is your public service announcement for the week:)

Annnnnnnd a new update on Cami.  Wednesday and Thursday she was absolutely crazy!  No kidding.  All day barking in your face....running around grabbing things just like the first and second day.

We put her in the crate at one point and she freaking barked for.....
45
minutes
straight

Setbacks.....but I'm not giving up.  SHE will not break me.

This was this morning in about 40 minutes.....goodbye clean house.

But then.....this face...
I have informed her that you can't get through life on your looks alone.
