ORC UPDATE

I have participated in 3 One Room Challenges and I went in kicking and screaming all 3 times.  Yes....I am THAT person.

I commit and then get anxious about doing it....you know
will I be able to finish
what if I do a crappy job
what if they hate it

blah blah blah.
#demons
#insecurities
#creativity is subjective
#budget constraints
#time constraints
#pressure

Then it's over and I am all excited thinking that wasn't so bad.

Like the time I rollerbladed 84 miles in one day from Athens to Atlanta.  In the rain.  During....pure HELL.
After....fun!

It's always the unknown that gets me going.

Today Linda, our fearless leader, is having a "where are they now" party.  You know is the room fat and bald?

I am happy to say that the first room I did has not changed.

Do you remember how I blogged about it even before I asked my client if she would be OK with my plan?

Thankfully she was a real sport:)

Any way the second ORC was my own guest room and I am proud to declare that I have not changed this room at all.  Not even a pillow.

SHOCKING right!

I think it's because I don't have to look at it everyday and tear it down in my mind.

The third ORC was for my sister's family room

How the room looked 25 years ago when she moved in....

To this

Before

After

And it has not been changed either!

Jump over to Calling It Home and see who has changed their rooms....

Today is paperwork day for me....I think I would rather have a root canal.  No never mind that is a total lie.  But then again drugs are involved.  Still....no.

Love all three of these rooms….that bookcase wall in your sister's house that is painted charcoal makes me want to jump in my car and go directly to the paint store. I hope you do the next ORC!!

I agree with Loi Thai! Each room is perfect and I wouldn't change a thing. Of course if you do make changes, you can send your discards my way :).

Sherry, if my rooms were as gorgeous as yours, I wouldn't change anything either! They are all PERFECTO!

Hi In your guest room with the black curtain rods, are those pinched pleated drapes? I just ordered some white twill drapes from pottery barn- they have the loops on the back and a pocket for the rod. Could I make mine look like yours in the picture :)

You've done outstanding transformations in those rooms. Glad to see that they remain the same today. I love what you did with your sisters home!

Haha! I'm scaredy cat of the dentist too. Man, those rooms look so amazingly different. It's incredibly cool to see what you did with them all, and how they still look amazing! I love the blue throws with the zebra pillows... so yummy!

Its a great compliment to you that your sis has kept everything the same.
Paperwork IS a root canal without drugs!

Three home runs! That is why you are so good, it doesn't need any tweaking. I have a pile of paperwork, too. It's a standoff. I have procrastinated on it for more than a week. I wonder who will win? Good luck with yours.

I run from paperwork .... that is not good! But your rooms are beautiful!! xo

Sherry, you crack me up! I look forward to reading your posts each day. In my mind, You're the definition of "kicking butt and taking names" I also love how "real" you are, posting about cars and dentists, etc... I always love seeing which alter-ego is signing off for the day too! So much personality in one little blog! love it!

Sherry, I just love revisiting the magic you work on your spaces. And what's fun is that I notice new things. Like how in your guest bedroom, you've done a taller table on one side with a larger lamp and then balanced on the other side with that cool little off-center trophy. I love how it balances the height of the window too. Filing this strategy away.

Love the before and after at your sister's house! How was the fireplace addressed in the "after"? Left with the old brick look or was the brick painted?
Thanks!!!

This is my first time seeing these rooms (obviously I've been hiding under a rock). Love all three! Really well done. I was thinking of joining the ORC challenge and I keep questioning myself…so glad to hear it's not just me and it all works out in the end. xo Jennifer

Your rooms can be spotted a mile away. It's not that they all look the same (heck no), they all just have that Sherri was here look -- tailored, relaxed, sophisticated. Love your work.

Just a huge testimony to your timeless taste and great eye! I am forever tweaking my house...Decor, paint, accessories. As much as I embrace change(okay, truth is I tend to chase after it!), I often wonder what it would be like to have a room that I get so perfect, I don't want to change it. Hasn't happened yet, but one can hope!
