MONIQUE GIBSON

I stumbled across these images from the work of designer Monique Gibson.  I remember when she was in the news about 20 years ago after she designed Elton John's condo here in Atlanta.

Well.....she is large and in charge now and has done 3 homes for John Mellencamp.

boomchakalaka.

Feast your eyes on the perfection that I am going to show you....

Shut it right now.

Clean...simple and pretty.

I love her style...and I am taking a large black garbage bag around my house right now.

It is just another example of how elegant neutrals can be.

White and gray...then throw in the carmel colored floors.  Usually I hate this stain color.  Looks like I don't anymore.

I know it might be a little bland for some of you....but just study the restraint she used in her editing.

The thing with this pallet is the texture and layering.....

"Moniquey" [my pet name for her].....you are my designer crush right now....

I ran over to the Trinity Art Show this morning.....I did not have much time but managed to take a few shots for you.

Stephanie Wheeler has been a long time favorite of mine.

Web Marsteller and The Mercantile also carry her work.

Next was David Nichols

This one just spoke to me....

Then I started taking pictures so fast that now I don't remember who was who.  You just can't count on me sometimes:)

So if you are local....just take yourself on over there.  It runs through Feb 8th.

Going to Scott's tomorrow.

Whoop.

Bring those black garbage bags with you the next time you come to Chicago. I will take them off your hands.

if she's good enough for Elton and johnny then she's good enough for me! Truth be told, her imperfect planks make me feel better about mine! LOVE! Thanks for the introduction….

Totally joining you in your crush. That tree stump dining table is one of the most spectacular things I've ever seen!

So interesting. While I am not a huge fan of the greige aesthetic, this is spectacular, and if I had the privilege of owning several homes, I would be fine with it! Question: can you tell us about the Egret (?) and Swan paintings? Who is the artist? Gorgeous!
Thanks for the great post and the introduction to me of Monique Gibson's work.

I think you and Moniquey are totally in sync. I do like a bit more color that you add, makes it that much more interesting. So keep your color!! Have fun at Scotts tomorrow,

I really love Monique's less is more approach. Each space appears to be collected rather than accessorized with impersonal fillers. She has a very discriminating eye putting function at the forefront. The result is beautifully individual and reflective of the person she is designing for. Such talent!

I agree, I join in your crush as well. I normally need more color but the layers and the textures are really jumping out and just look incredible. Absolutely love.

Monique Gibson has a beautiful and clean design sense. Gorgeous and simple, textural and casual, rooms that look evolved. The artwork is wonderful.

I just saw John Cougar in the latest AD. I've been saving it to enjoy this weekend, so will be interested to see if she designed the home featured. Also, you've inspired me to dabble with neutrals in our master bedroom. I'm tired of our bedding, so I'm going out on a limb and going to practice my neutral eye - wish me luck. May the Sherry magic be with me :)

I googled myself for the first time in several years and this lovely post appeared! Sherry, thank you for your nice post about my work! (And thank you ALL for your nice comments.)

Just for the record, my designs are very peaceful and without clutter but I could take a big garbage bag around my own house right about now as well. ;)

Thank you again.... a bit late.... but sincere nonetheless!
