DIY

I think it is safe to say I am not a "do it yourself" blogger....or person.  20 years ago...yes I would give it a shot.

I don't consider painting a diy attempt but using a glue gun for anything other than hemming a pair of pants falls into that category.

All that being said....sometimes I have more than one glass of wine and all hell breaks loose.

Which was the case the other night.  Can I just say how dangerous this sucker is.

It can literally bring tears to your eyes and cause you scream out loud.

But I saw these books and thought it looked like a simple project.

So with the same slight buzz I had when I got online and found my 2 rescue dogs on Petfinder one night [which is another story] I dug out some scraps of white fabric and went to town.

While burning my fingerprints off at the same time.

The wine wore off after 3 books...

Maybe if I had some sharp scissors it would have been a little less frustrating.  Who knows.

Yes...I covered some books.  I guess now the book police will be after me.

Of course I haven't gotten the wax yet but that doesn't stop me from playing with new toys.

The black and white tray is one of my favorite scores from Homegoods.

Sometimes instead of using moss I will use oyster shells to cover the dirt on a plant.

I have started collecting black pottery from thrift stores lately.  Maybe I shouldn't tell you guys cause that cause then I won't be able to find any.

I will be waiting for another blue moon so I can do more DIY.

thank the good lord it's friday

Not bad for someone who's not a DIY-er Sherry! Love the new look of the books!

Well, shacrafty you did a great job. Love the blue shuttered backdrop.

Glue guns are crazy dangerous! I can't believe we don't need a permit to own one! The books did turn out nice though...

I am loving those little blue shutters! I need to try covering a few books. I used to be pretty handy with a glue gun, but it's been awhile.

Haha love the honesty. Some bloggers make shat shit look SOOO easy & then you try it yourself & immediately say "F this I should have just bought this".

Looks fantastic Sherry! Not a diy-er either...can't even stand the thought of it. You did a great job on the books. (love that black pottery btw)

I just about fell off my chair when I saw DIY in your title. I was sure it was a mistake! You did a fantastic job, now come over for a glass of wine.

I love the idea of covering books in fabric! I think they look great. I'm limited in my craft abilities too. I can vouch for the dangers of a glue gun. Maybe it's best that you use that while you're sober! LOL!

it's scary sometimes how much i can relate to you. those books are effin fabulous. i love what you've done. if i could, i would cover every single one of my books. they can just look so busy sometimes when i'm ocding or brooding about this or the other. your black pottery will be safe from me. for now. but hands off galvanized buckets. i know there so 5 minutes ago, but i can't live without them at the moment. (i'm buzzed too)

Please don't ever stop blogging. You are so darn funny and you bring a smile to my face every day! But I'm sorry to say I love the idea of collecting black pottery. I'm totally stealing your idea but luckily I live in Colorado so we won't be in competition. Thanks for all the smiles!

Sherry that is about as much DIY as I do too! Yes, those guns are lethal. Love your vignette, you always add all the perfect pieces that marry well together. Love black and white so this is a whole lot of eye candy for me!

PS - Love the idea of covering soil with old shells. Such a great idea and not as messy as moss.

The first and most important question is....red or white, wine that is! I am a read wine girl, but have drunk my share of white! I am a DIY'er but I seem to always have much more trouble than the " easy directions" say that the project will be. If you put salt on your burns, it will make a blister but it will not hurt. Best tip I ever heard from the "Martha". Needless to say, I have a cup of water and the salt waiting whenever I get the glue gun out. I just started following your blog and I will be reading and smiling!

oops red not read!
