MANUEL CANOVAS

Are you afraid of color?  I am kinda.  I mean I'm pretty much over the whole "Restoration Hardware....everything in flax linen" kind of look.

Don't get me wrong....it can be done right but there has to be gobs of texture to keep it from looking flat.

When I first started in the "bizness" of design...of there was color alright.  Red dining room....yellow kitchens....navy den, green family rooms and so on.

ALL in one house I might add.

We have evolved.  We studied.  We changed.

Color needs neutrals to ground it.  I love using a deep gray or taupe wall with a really colorful fabrics.

Here is a perfect example using fabric.

All this color against the taupe.  A perfect combination to me....

This fabric is from Manuel Canovas new line.

I am about to brighten your world here so put your sunglasses on....

In your face color....

Oh mommie.....

Colorgasim.

Then I saw this pattern....and I immediately wanted a skirt, hairband, and purse made out of it.

Yeah.  We used to dress like that when I was young.  My Mom would do me right with the whole setup.

3 more patterns from the collection.

Gah....

Somebody let me paint a room this color please.....

It is a simply stunning collection....

Just cause it was pretty....

I saw this beautiful piano makeover on Lane's blog the other day.

It blew me away....

Ok Friday...do your thing.  Go fast....so we can ease into this Sat gig.

My gutters are coming today....yeah who knew you could get excited about that but I am.  Dark bronze.

I like color....in other people's homes!!!! The fabrics are beautiful although if I had them on a piece in my home I'm pretty sure I would tire of it in record time. Can't wait to see pics of your home sporting it's new paint and gutters! Have a great weekend :o)

I went to a graduation party this week and the mom's home was full of beautiful color - apple green living room, blue dining room, yellow kitchen. I'd never met her before and discovered she had been an interior designer. There was lots of color but it all worked together in a cohesive but still vibrant way.

Hey, I'm happy for you and your new gutters too! Oh, and the post your wrote about your husband's retirement was beautiful. To think of the thousands and thousands of people he brought home and back safely and soundly. Hats off to him!

That fabric is crazy awesome! I would let you paint a room that color. In fact, when my big boys heads off to college in August his room will be navy.

Beautiful fabrics! For me it would be enough to have a couple of pillows for a pop of fantastic colorful style. Any more than that and I would be climbing the walls :)

Yay for the gutters and have an awesome weekend Sherry.

I can't believe that color explosion, I absolutely adore it, I'd wear it before I actually did my house in it, but I would paint with those colors in a second! Im spray painting iron deck furniture today so I can relax on Saturday!

Love this post as I have been so so ready to bring color back into the mix and have been slowly doing so mostly with "pops" of color. I actually miss reds though having a hard time incorporating them when just 5 years ago that is all I painted with. What I love about this blog post is that you choose images and examples that seem to have a soft transition or introduction to bolder brighter colors. Those very subtle grays, beige's, muted lavenders and soft warm whites balance these colors out and actually cause them to subconsciously become more accessible. What a great post for the first day of summer!

Hey did you visit my house in the 90's? I had a red dining room and green family room. Yes, I still love color but as you said, against a neutral backdrop. Have a lovely weeked, Sherry!

I have 2 ottomans and some pillows made out of the same fabric as the pink sofa--except, mine are the grey and the navy colorways. I LOVE it!

I feel so old because I have been a homeowner through the era of the red dining room, golden yellow foyer, blue kitchen, green living room, all related by floral and plaid fabrics that matched……what the heck was I thinking??? I love the neutral with a BAM big pop of color that is the trend today (hopefully here to stay?)

Totally had a red living room, yellow kitchen, and a bright green bathroom...eight short years ago. Oh how things have changed! I like to think that I'm not too trendy, but shoot...those colorful rooms were a dead giveaway. Don't know if I could pull the trigger on some of those fabrics. I'll just admire them in your work, how's that? ;) Dark bronze sounds fabulous! Can't wait to see 'em.
