Y'all I am so happy it is Friday......cause I thought it was Friday all day yesterday so today is an extra day.
We are getting bids to have our house painted.
Sad to say that it has not been painted in 20 years. Ya think it's time?
Anyway I was not stressed in the least because I was 100% sure on my colors. 100%.
BM Classic Gray for the body, windows and trim.
BM Brewster Gray for the shutters.
Done right?
Nooooooo......I happened to be online [damn you pinterest] and now there is a crack in my decision as wide as the Pacific.
This a picture of my house from about 4 years ago. One of the reasons I painted it the darker color is that it wouldn't show dirt.
But.....I am ready for a change.
This is the combination I had decided on. It was on the Christmas Show House. This was it..... hands down....nothing will change my mind.
BUT....now that my resolve might be broken here is another inspiration picture.....
Now I don't have a light metal roof but dang I am in love with the light shutters.
Decision has to be made by Monday.
Alrighty then on to more important things.
Who went to the Show House?

How about we start with another shot of the incredible kitchen!
This is the talented Jimmy Stanton's room.....Love the wall of framed sea fans.
Remember I told you that Ikea designed a room.....they did a great job...I think they used one of everything in the store :)
Love this new wing chair they have.....
More dark walls in Fernandez & True Interiors upstairs master bedroom. It was so warm and rich. Love how they used feminine bedding with masculine furnishings.
I loved how they treated the windows with these curtains.
This little vignette was per.... rect..... ion!
The kitchen dining area by Boxwoods was one of my favorite rooms.
You have to see the whole room.....this just doesn't show how awesome it is.....rich with texture.
Beautiful and eclectic keeping room by Tish Mills.
Want to see something pretty......check out the ceiling...and chandelier.
Uh......yes please.
You have until May 12th to see all of this gorgeousness for yourselves.....
My stepdaughter Cari Higgins is in town this weekend for some bike racing...she is a national champion cyclist. I hope the weather doesn't let us down!
And if you happen to see me....I will be the one carrying around paint chips and muttering.

I love your house so much. Painted or not, it has so much curb appeal.
I adore your house!!! I'm with Emily - I'd love it painted or not. I hope you have a great weekend!
Your house is so cute. I think with the dark roof I would stay with your first color choices.
Sherry,
Your photo's of the show house are amazing! I agree the upstairs MB is a fantastic blend of the sexes! And yes, the breakfast area and the keeping room are absolutely amazing! The kitchen looks fab..love the cabinet color! (could be because it reminds me of what we just painted ours)
Wow what a decision to make on your house colors! I love both the one you found at the Christmas House and the more recent one with the lighter shutters. Is there anyway you can play with your computer and "see" what your existing roof will look with the two different versions?
Can't wait to hear about your decision. Have a fun weekend....
You are always keeping me in stitches! I loved getting to see the outside of your house. It's really pretty! I hate deciding on exterior house colors. You never know exactly how it's going to look and it's such a huge investment. I like to use house colors that I've seen in person so I don't worry how it will look in real life. Sometimes, a photo of someone's house is actually different in person. My house color is very "safe". I don't want to be one of those neighbors with a glaring tacky color that everyone shakes their head at. I'm sure you'll come to a decision soon. Love seeing the rest of the showhouse too.
Your house looks fabulous as it is! Waaaay nicer than mine! Good luck picking colours!
I really like a deeper rich color on a home with crisp white trim. What do I know. I love that show house. Thanks!
Your house is so nice! Good luck picking colors, I like both ideas.
Ooooo, i like the second house color, the soft white with those buff shutters... i see how your resolve is shaken... hmmmmm
Cindy
I hear ya girlfriend. I still have the paint colors you sent me earlier in the year. Just need to get it done! We are going darker, but I love the lighter shutters in your picture. Hmm...
Oh, and since you are in my neck of the woods would you mind passing along the painters you are using?
Love all your shots of the show house, it looks spectacular, and that Jimmy Stanton LR...ahhhh! love love. I would have said gray all the way with your house, too, but if it has to last another 20 years I might vote for the white with beige shutters...either way your house is so darn charming!!! It has so much curb appeal already. Can you upload a pic of it into a site and see what the other arrangement will look like?
good luck sweetie. Have a nice weekend.

Without a doubt...THE FIRST COLOR CHOICE...Beautiful!!!!..Thanks for sharing!
I can't help you choose a house color, but I will tell you my 'speriences. #1 white does not show as much dirt as you think. I work at a LANDFILL, yes ma'am. The Dump. And a white truck LOOKS cleaner than it really is. My NEW car is white. Been working in this insustry (landfills) for 25 years, took me THIS LONG to get smart enough to get a white car.....#2 a white house only looks dirty when up close & personal. Again - refer to #1...I know this. I live in a white house NOW - lived in a gray one before - the gray one looked dirty ALL the time - we should have left it pink. Pink didn't show the dirt. Red mud rather. Alabama had red dirt & mud. Didn't show up too bad on a PINK house. Dare you to go pink. and it wasn't "I think that might be pink" - it was REALLY pepto-bismal Pink. As long as I work where I do, I'll drive a white car from now on. And I like the white house. Looks bigger too - though I don't think I could convince Prince Charming to go with light colored shutters.... Dang.

Oh my! Your blog inspires me every day! LOVE the Brewster Gray! Time for paintig here too after my new windows are installed on Monday!I might have to steal the Brewster Gray for my shutters :) Will be lovely with Edgecomb Gray! I'll keep you posted!
OOOh, a lot of eye candy, that kitchen is divine!!! Good luck with the house painting, I think no matter the choice, it will be great!
I say go for it! I love the pinned image and it would be a drastic change from what you have now. I think I would really pop against the lush green setting it's in. Good luck!!
I agree with Emily- your house is beautiful no matter what you decide. I love both options. That inspiration pic of the lighter creamy house is gorgeous!!
Everything is so beautiful! I especially love the kitchen and the stunning gold pendants. Gorgeous!
Good luck with choosing your colors, I think it's beautiful as it is! Love the pictures of the show house, loving the wall of sea fans!
Ooooh those color combinations make me want to repaint our house. I'll have to live vicariously through you. How pretty is your house by the way???? I love it's curb appeal!
I was this close (holds fingers together) to painting my house the light colors in your inspiration photo but ultimately went in another direction because there's a white house across the street and one next door to me too. I stressed over the decision for the longest time. Glad it's behind me. Your house is adorable.
Doesn't matter what color you do on your house -- seriously. It is just stinking gorgeous. The epitome of curb appeal. And loveliness. That show house is to die, too. It's just amazing how much talent is out there.
i have that white house on my pinterest. it is beautiful but it is in a coastal town. i love your original pick and think it is much more suited for intown atlanta
can't wait to see what you decide as far as the shutter color. we are ready to paint ours again...um it will be the 3rd color in 6 yrs. um and our house is very tall and we do it ourselves. i want that faded quiet french blue but man is it elusive! i think i may have to think about 'finishing' them with a couple steps rather than just one flat color.
happy weekend, and go cari!
michele
Your house has great curb appeal. Good luck deciding on the color! Love the rooms you shared especially the kitchen and the living room designer by Jimmy Stanton!
Have a good weekend!

Yep I just love your home!!! Adorable even if you don't paint it... Good luck! It's a tough decision but go with the gut:)
Love your house. These images of the showhouse are divine! Thanks for sharing your peek.
Oh my! I love both of those exteriors equally. I hate when this happens! Good luck. Either one will be beautiful.
Your house is gorgeous as is, but change is fun, too! I don't think you can make a mistake with any of these choices. I do LOVE that last combo you show with the light shutters. So fresh! And I NEED that chandalier!
Your house is so charming. I think you are ready for a change, so I would go for it. You already had this combination for 20 years, time for something new and fun! If you don't make the change you will always wonder, Good thing about the shutters, you can always repaint if you don't like the shutters, just get the base of the house right and have fun with the shutters and I think a wyeth blue front door would be so pretty too.
Hi Sherry,
Had to comment after seeing all the nice ones you left me! Admittedly, I am totally a stalker - love all your work! So THANKs so much! Your blog is favorite - and I know, should we ever meet, we would get along famously!
xo~Jill
Love the new choice ~ It will work fine with your roof!
Hmmm-- I always say go with your gut or your first instinct but I do like the lighter version. good luck on your decision and thanks for showing the show house pics. amazing with all of the dark rooms!
Your house is so pretty and I can see it in those first colors, Christmas Show House. Are your new winders (lol) going to be brown? I know it will look classy...whatever you choose!
So tomorrow is decision day...can't wait!
Sherry, just found your blog via Design Chic. Love it!!! I show my art at Scott Antiques every month. Would love to meet you! South Building L-10. Also, want to encourage you to go to the Wesleyan Artist Market which starts this Thursday. Amazing group of artists!!! I will be checking your blog all the time! Love it!
Whatever paint color you are going to settle for - I will copy! (: You know what you are doing.
The pendants in the kitchen are a really unexpected treat. And Hurray for Ikea! Couldn't survive without them (although the food shop is not as good as it used to be. All Swedes living abroad are complaining and sending hate mail to Ikea's Swedish HQ. Touchy subject for those Swedes who need their salty liquorice fix).
Hugs to you Ms. Brilliant.
Mon
I also loved the Christmas House colors and am painting my own house- cannot find my brochure. What are the actual colors they used? Thanks so much.
