NEW CHAIR

It's been a long time since I have bought any furniture.  Oh I've bought pillows....art....accessories but most of the furniture I have has been around for about 10 years or so.

In the corner of my small keeping area I have a slipcovered wing back chair that I bought at a flea market probably 15 years ago.  It's a great place to enjoy some sunshine and chat on the phone.

About 6 months ago I sat down...the leg broke and the corner crashed into the window and broke a pane.  Yikes....I might want to lay off the sweets.

In my defense it was just old...like me:)
I glued it....no worky.
So then it just became the broken chair in the corner with caution tape on it.

You can see it in the back corner of this picture.

And in this shot.
It happens to be a great little area to change up.....which you can see I do....quite often.

So....I needed a replacement.  Not just any chair mind you but I wanted tall.  And comfortable.

You would think that in my graveyard of chairs in the basement that would not be a problem....but most of them are occasional chairs.

So I was keeping my eyes open for something and the other day I saw a chair pop up on a facebook page from Stanton Home Furnishings down at the West End.

Big sale.  Huge sale.  1/4 of the original price.  Tall.

It was chair karma.  I called...."Is it still there?"  "Yes but we can't hold it".  K....now what.

Saturday....husband home.  No sneaking.  "Honey wanna go out to lunch?"  "Plus I need to go look at a chair".  Did not say for who.

As we were carrying it out....he looked at me and said "Who is this one for?"  I froze for a second but looked him straight in the eye and said in the most intimating voice I have "us".  Then I just listened for 15 minutes to why we DO NOT need anymore furniture.

By then it was paid for .... in the car....possession.

Lunch?

She is adjusting quite well to her new space!

Course I had to shine up this area a little....it's what we do right?

And there you have it.......wait for a bargain...don't be impatient.

Now I have to go work on the ORC room....which is going to require hanging pictures into plaster walls.

Not so much fun.

Have a great Saturday...

I just laughed out loud. I think we must lead parallel lives. I know I have lived that scenario several times and I have a chair graveyard too. Cute chair!

Such a pretty fabric! That's really a neutral so you can still keep playing with the space even though it is perfect now.

She IS a beaut. You sneak! Are you going to slipcover her, too? For variety?

I think you handled that perfectly!! Sometimes I think our hubbies just like to make their voice heard, but bottom line is they want us to be happy. She looks like she has found the perfect home and it will continue to be easy for you to do changes around her. I love her!!

You can't glue legs on chairs you have to screw in three different directions. But then again you wouldn't have your fabulous new chair if you were handy right? Love the stripes! My husband doesn't think we need any more furniture either until I make something go away then it's like we need something here.

Thank goodness you replaced a dangerous situation in your room. You should have told him the thousands you just saved him from a future emergency room visit. Then, you wold have had to hire a driver for your broken....whatever. Cute chair.

Really, is there a woman out there who cant relate to this? I let out a big laugh. My man just told me yesterday that the "chair situation" in the basement needs to be addressed. Your new girl is perfection. Worth the wait. Love your house x
