MY HOUSE

I almost hate to post since there is so much going on our country.....I'm not blind but I feel like you might come here for some normalcy.

I don't really want to start "that" conversation as I know how passionate everyone is about their beliefs.....and I am OK with that.

We are all friends and have been for 11 years so let's just agree that this is a safe place and we will keep it light hearted and discuss my new coffee table instead....haha

A few months ago I went to the sample sale at the mart and stumbled across a Worlds Away waterfall coffee table and it stopped me in my tracks.  Rose and I both just stood there....thinking "do we have a client who could use this".  It was such a deal we just could not walk away so I bought it and we both said we will find someone.

So funny because when I walked over to put the sold sign on it there were a couple of designers standing around deciding to buy it and I said...."stand back people.....it's mine".

Well per usual for me it just hung out in a corner of my LR waiting for some love.  Over the holidays I scooted my pigeon basket coffee table out of the way and played with some styling.

Big Mistake.

I kind of love it.  Crap.  Now the pigeon basket coffee table is in the corner.  Crikey

Of course I was on a roll and brought in my amber jar.....

And then I remembered I had this mudcloth which I was going to have pillows made out of so I tucked it on the seat of the sofa!

The rattan chairs were found on Craigslist many years ago and I had them painted!

I

I found the vintage Chapman sconces at Scott's probably 15 years ago....and the end tables at Tuesday Morning so long ago.  They were wood and I painted them as I love the lines.

I've had the sisal rug for a while and you can find one similar on Overstock as I have seen them before!

The small table is actually Currey and Co and was ordered for a client.  When it came I opened it to check for damage and just placed it in my room to see how it looked:)  She is probably reading this and thinking "well now it is used so I want a discount"....hahahaha

The black marble tray is from Target.....many years ago.

And my beloved Swan......Dawne Raulet Art.

I have already moved things around in the DR but here is that basket I bought for a client....and after I posted this on Instagram she reminded me it was hers.....haha.

So here is the before of the LR

I can't decide.......whaaaaaaaa
I know it is a completely different look.  I will be so curious as which one you prefer......

I will tell you that this shot was taken by a professional so it does look pretty good.

What to do.....what to do?

I hope you guys have a great weekend.  It's so cold here in Atlanta right now.  It's a Scotts weekend and next week is The Mart!  Plus I am so overloaded with work....which is a good thing I know but I am a little overwhelmed.

MADISON UPDATE

Look at me being all responsible.....it's Monday afternoon and I am starting this post so I can finish it tomorrow morning.  Don't say I don't love you guys:)

Tomorrow I have to close on a small piece of property that I acquired in my divorce [it's not signed yet but close] so I have to leave my house early.

Anyway I don't think I have shared the family room at the farm in Madison.  I believe I last showed you the sectional that was delivered....

Let's review so you don't have to go back to the post!

They had the rug so instead of bringing out the red....I decided to stick with blue accents.....pillows.

In my humble opinion since the rug is busy I needed to calm everything else down.  Using a light color on the sectional [performance] and some black and white pillows.....

I looked everywhere for a coffee table and I wanted round just for a different shape.....

So happy when I found this one!

OK....I was humming along with this post and my neighbor called saying she didn't have any water.  I ran over with the "curb" thing which you can open the meter lid with and we managed to figure out what the problem was!  I say we..... as her daughter stuck her hand in murky mud water so that we could find the  valve.  I was most impressed because she would have gone without water if it was up to me:)

That......of course called for a glass of wine in celebration.....So of course I never finished this post last night:)

Here is the before of the TV wall.  I needed to find a longer console as this situation was not working:)

Love the lighter color of this one....

Now to accessorize.....

You might remember that I found all of these beautiful art books at a flea market....the client is an art historian.

Originally in this room there was a leather sofa AND leather chair.  I broke those babies up!  I put the sofa in the front room.....just too much leather for my taste!  [clearing throat.....design tip]

Moving into the dining room.....

The rug was delivered and we added some cream curtains....they are ready made from Pottery Barn....

The rug is performance from Couristan called Curacao in pewter.

This pretty owl by Jane Ingols

Beautiful chairs from Charles Stewart in a Schumacher fabric!

Wall color is SW Black Fox

Light fixture is from Rejuvenation.

The table was hand made and I love the iron base!

They will spend so much time here....and now it's comfortable!

It was purchased maybe 3 years ago....we zhushed it a little.....then the renovation began last year and after 2 stages it is finally finished!  Of course I am sure there are still "ticks" on the property....haha.

ART

If you are like me one of the last things to go in a room is art and accessories.  I like to see the direction a finished room is going and then figure out where I need a big ole "smack in the face" kind of piece!

One of my go to places for art here in Atlanta is Gregg Irby Gallery.

Gregg has been a fixture on the art scene in Atlanta for years and all it takes is one visit to her new studio and you can see why!

I was over on the Westside and popped in to check it out.  First of all it's about 10 times bigger which is a good thing!

So many beautiful pieces to choose from.

If you think you can't afford original art then you are wrong.  There are price points for everyone and all kinds of sizes.

Design today is kind of a "anything goes"....with most rules tossed out the window.  I agree a "too perfect" room can be predictable and boring on the other hand....easy there people.....it can become a hot mess pretty quick:)

What I am trying to say is that your art does not have to match you decor perfectly.  It can be that one thing in the room that draws the eye in.  Whether it's a large canvas over the mantel or sofa it can also be a few smaller pieces in a great gallery wall.

This is a canvas I bought years ago.....can you imagine this room without all that glorious color above the mantel?  Boring.

And look how easy it is to move around...

Because it is an abstract....I turned it sideways to fit this spot in my living room.....for a change.
[Shocking huh]

More art from the gallery....

If you don't know where to begin with this art gig.....they will help you pick a great piece out for your room....it's that easy!

This Friday Gregg Irby Gallery is having a little soiree to celebrate the opening of their new gallery!

So go see what's new in the art world!
