If you read the previous post then you know my frustration with trying to hang a few shelves.
Yes....it was ugly and I had to spend a bunch of time repairing it. My husband said this "you are a designer....you should be able to do this stuff".
You might be saying to yourself "why didn't he help me".....that is another whole story but lets just say I am impatient and he over thinks. Not a good mix.
I am happy to say that there is a happy ending.
Shelves are up.
Here is an image of before
It was a gallery wall with that I just threw these up in random order kind of look.
Which was great but I wanted to be able to change out the pictures occasionally.
Shocking I know.
So I had the brilliant idea that I would put up narrow shelves which would allow me to do that.
May I present to you the after.
I've had these ferns for about 20 years hanging in my hallway.
I was going to hang 3 shelves but after I repaired the holes I had to move the top shelf higher which left room for just 2.....and now after it's all said and done I realize that 3 would have been too much.
Silver linings.
Since I know you are going to ask.....I got them at The Container store and they have 3 different lengths.
Plant from Home Depot
Basket from Goodwill
Chair from Scott's [15 years ago]
Mud-clothe from Scott's
Antlers from Scott's
Paint Color: BM White Dove
Seagrass: Myers Carpet
And that's a wrap.

Love the new look. Something stayed in one spot for 20 years? No way!
I loved the random before, but the new shelves look great! You can send the stuff you took down over here :>
Looks amazing, Sherry. And I would have cussed the whole time. I HATE hanging things that require measuring or screws (and my husband is no help with hanging things either - he's worse than I am!). Uggh, the worst. That said, it was totally worth it. Love the clean-lined look. Like a breath of fresh air!
Sha-MAZING. ;)
that looks great, and I love the CS shelves with the little circle bracket thingie. Which i'm quite sure is the official name. I'd love to hear your response to the husband's comment :)
you stuck with it and no one was murdered - i say that means success. they look great!
I so related to your last post, been there...I too have a husband who overthinks everything, the engineer in him! His saving grace, he is willing...and does a better job than my impatient self.
Your result is so nice, I am always inspired by your design ideas!
Gorgeous Sherry! And I thought that spot couldn't be made any better, but you did! Love the pops of black frames on the white walls and of course the hints of green!
Cleaver. And as usual perfectly styled. I was wondering what kind of shelves gave you such problems. Know we know. Love it. Best, Beth C.
love love love love love
you are oh so clever! love love
i have been trying to get my husband to build me some of these simple shelves for my shop to no avail. and this is a handy mans handy man
screw that, i am off to the container store, thanks!

Love the prints and the shelves were such a great idea.
Your plant is doing really well - and really putting mine to shame. It's doing better now but still a fraction of the size of yours. Nice work on these new shelves - so much easier to make changes now I bet.
Looks fantastic!
Looks fresh and beautiful. And I love that you can change it out. We all need a bit of flexibility...you know, in case we change our minds!
My Mr. Wonderful does exactly the same thing. After several years of this I forget about him and hire it done. Saves a lot of arguing. What with them? We shop, cook, clean, have the kids and sometimes are even good to his Mother, the least he could do is the now and again things that men are supposed to be able to take in stride. Crap.
Love your new layout. The pictures are just right and so are you photos. Ann
love this, sheriqua! you outdid yourself, gurl! :)
It looks so stylish! Well done!
That's a magazine shot if I ever saw one!
These look great, Sherry. Shelves are hard to install...diy is not my thing so I hear ya. Great job though!
They look beautiful! Thanks for the shelf source. I have been looking for a narrow ledge shelf myself.
Regarding your husband's comment, just tell him he looks so strong and studly when he does manly things like hang shelves....always works in my house :)
Dang, I love that. And I am so not believing that you had those in a hallway for 20 years, and from the comments I see that I am not alone ;-). What I want to know is, where do you find the time to change things up so often? I can barely get dinner on the table, never mind work on my house!!
I love gallery shelves for artwork and of course yoursl looks great. Love the black framed ferns. I have some old botanical prings from a book to frame, but never got it done. YOU inspire me, you always do!!
I love that you added the stuff off to the left side of the shelves. I love the container store. I could spend my entire pay check in there every week.
I getcha. I paid my handyman to drive up here from LA (put him in a hotel overnight) to hang everything heavy and electrical. But I had to hang my office memo boards since they did not arrive in time.
Guess what keeps falling down?
Looks great babes! Shelves are just plain smart. New art errrday!!
style explosion-looks awesome!!!
ooooogirl love those shelves! love you too! xoxo

I love the "after"!! I just saw some antique fern prints yesterday at an antique mall. Now ya got me thinking!! BTW - My husband would of let me go to the trouble of hanging the shelves , then stood back and said "hmmm, now is that really level?" Grrrr! Husbands!!
Always love to read your blog!!
Shafabulous! I am coveting a black throw just like the one you have thrown over the chair. Is it one of a kind? If not would you mind sharing your source?!!
Love the shelves....I have always been a shelf kind of girl...Good job!
Loves it! Your styling looks pretty too, but that's no surprise because you've always been great at that!
love it so hard,
d
I feel your pain. I have some stainless steel shelves that I would love to hang but I just can't seem to get myself psychologically ready. :) Your results are marvelous! Yay you! :) xo, N.G.
Great job! Looks fab and perfect for the constant fickle-ness in us. Have a wonderful spring weekend. xo Nancy
They look amazing, and the perfect solution for one that likes to change it up! The frustration of hanging sounds all too familiar…happy weekend!
Love the shelves...it looks great!
Haha! Oh well, the after looks fabulous! and i'm with you... the whole measuring, overthinking thing is hard to bear when ya just want to get something done!
