NATE BURKUS

I think most people can remember the first time they saw Nate....on Oprah.  He was so young and adorable....I fell in love instantly.  I have always adored his design aesthetic...right from the "get go".

His rooms are full of texture....mixing styles with perfection and layering like there's no tomorrow.

Remember his first apartment in Chicago?

Well after he moved to NYC he remodeled a new apartment and re-used so many things....mind you they were GREAT things!
Like the rug below.....

And the sofa below which looks to be the same on in his Chicago apartment!
Along with the word art.....

Another apartment...there is that black and white rug again....

So classic!

Then he married the adorable Jeremiah Brent and they now have another design show on TLC that is a favorite of mine just because they are so adorb together.  IMO

I bet you are wondering why I've gathered you together today.....well Nate has a new fabric line with Kravet....

You might think....well he designed this line for me.  Well maybe he did?  So what :).

Full of neutrals and texture.  Yes.... there were other colors but he really doesn't stray from his palette which is mine also.

But let's get back to Nates designs.....

They have sold the California house above....and have moved back to NYC with their 2 kids.

Remember his old NYC kitchen?

I am excited to see what he does next.....

Here are pictures of his first apartment in Chicago....

And better pictures of the same apartment found here

And a wonderful tour of the home they just sold in Brentwood Ca....with a cute video found here
I watched it twice!

#allthingsnate

So listen....I might be back on Friday but I can't promise anything....this is the biggest vacation week of the summer and even though I'm hanging here in Atlanta...maybe I will pretend I am on a staycation!

Hope you guys have the best 4th of July ever!

NATE BERKUS FOR CALICO

OK guys.....here we go again with the One Room Challenge [ORC].  Of course back in November when Linda asked me I was like....."Oh gosh....surely things will be settled down in my life by then".

Well Hee Haw.....what was I thinking?

I know better than to email her and say that maybe I need to bow out cause she is like a judge sentencing someone when they have 3 strikes.

No leniency.

Scared.

I am just putting it out there that I have no idea what Wednesday will bring....I might be able to wrangle a client into being compliant with this gig or I might just have to rip apart my guest room.  Which I have been wanting to do.....but of course I just spent all of my extra money on the showhouse.

Speaking of "extra money"....what is that?  Extra means that you have more than you want and you can give it away.....

But that is a whole discussion for another day.

Today is devoted to Nate.  Oprah used to call him a hottie....I agree and I also think he has a good heart.  Have you read his book?

Can you believe it was 2001 when he first appeared on her show?

I remember when his mother had a show on HGTV....called Decorating Cents.  Yeah....I am THAT old.

I  took a trip to Calico to see view the collection up front.

I liked it....masculine but classic.

This might be my favorite.....nice upholstery weight....perfect for a bench or chair.
I like this color way also.

This is like a cut velvet and it's pretty awesome for the price.

Oh I could show them all to you but just head on over to Calico Home and take a look....

I just want to put this out there in case it has happened to you....occasionally [for some unknown reason] when I send emails.... people do not receive them?  Not sure what is happening so if you have emailed me and I did not answer then do not think I am a slacker....resend please.  I am having to cc myself now.......

I'll be back on Wednesday with something......your guess is as good as mine :)

Do y'all remember when I saw a spider in my car?  Well I think that sucker is on steroids now...and still in my car.  I have at least 15 bites and they are the size of a quarter.  OK...maybe I have scratched at them until they look like tumors....but that is how I roll.

I am going at it with a vengeance.  Plus my Mom is not here to tell me to stop.

If you want to see the Inspiration Showhouse.......it is over next weekend.  Just saying.

ART GALLERY

About 3 weeks ago I met my friend Lisa Mowry OTP.  For those of you NOT from Atlanta that means "outside the perimeter".....which for me is about a 30 minute drive.

Well worth it for some lunch and good company!  Now some of you who have been reading my blog for a while might already know this, but Lisa is an editor for many magazines such as Better Homes & Gardens, Traditional Home, Southern Living, and all of the Meridith Special Interest publications.

I did a post on "how to get published" here where I interviewed Lisa.  You might want to take a look....if that is something you might be interested in......:)

Anyway...back to our day in Marietta.
She took me into dk GALLERY on the square.

Good stuff....
I would kill for one of these.....by Sue Freda.  I love how organic it is....she works from a spool of wire.

OK...for some reason...I am a crappy note taker  I don't have all of the names of the artist to go with the art.  I don't want to put the wrong name on something.

Here are a few of the pieces I photographed.  Please go to the website to see all of the talented artist that Donna represents.
Can I have?  I need a little orange in my life.

Love the gray backgound of this one.
Trust me....it is worth the drive.

They did have this bowl of cute little watercolors.  More along the size of my budget right now....just sayin.

I decided to really splurge......  It wasn't a throw down or anything but for $25.00 it was doable.

My masterpiece.
Took myself over to Target...not that I needed an excuse to go THERE.

Got a frame and of course the mats were ALL too big.

Why......can't something just fit once and a while and be easy huh?

So I just painted a piece of cardboard with some leftover paint.  I know...crazy complicated DIY.

Good enough.
BAM.  Done.
The gallery wall is growing.  Hey...can you have 2 gallery walls in your house?  You know in separate rooms?  I am just asking.

And another thing....did you hear that Nate Berkus is doing a collection for Target?!?  Does anyone remember about 8 years ago when he did one for Linens and Things....that shit flew out of the stores.

Target Debuts Exclusive Home Collection from Nate Berkus

Target® Corp. (NYSE: TGT) today announced a new home collection with award-winning and renowned designer Nate Berkus. The Nate Berkus Collection, sold exclusively at Target, will debut in Target stores and at Target.com on Oct. 21, 2012. The new signature home collection will launch with items including bedding, bath, accessories, lighting, rugs and window treatments.

I bet this will make the Mossimo collection for Target

seem like small potatoes.

Ya think?

That might have been the beginning of my "buying  just so no one else get's it" phase.

Enjoy the tiny weekend.
