THIS AND THAT

Remember me?  Yep.... kind of fell off the grid there for a moment but it's summer so I am sure no one noticed:)

We took a little spin up to Chicago [Naperville] to to visit my husbands Dad who is 98 but first we dropped off Cami at her favorite "home away from home"!

Where I can safely say my phone battery dies everyday while I am watching her on "doggy cam":)

Her best friends Mom sent me this....

The cutest huh?

We stayed at Hotel Indigo right on the river and it was very nice!

Y'all.....this visit was just a little depressing.  20 years ago I might not have felt that way but at my age......I see reality looming in the future.....

And I am not happy about it.  This is not what I have in mind.....

Lined up in wheelchairs watching [and I use the term loosely] movies, and playing bingo.  In your room you have a bed, chest and chair.  So look around and drink in all of your pretty decorating because in the end.....it's not gonna really matter.

I think I need to stop exercising because I do not want to live this long.  Here is the text I sent my sister....

I noticed that the ratio was 10 women to 1 man living there and same with the caretakers.  I turned to my husband and commented how important "we" [women] are to society.

This is how I closed out that night....

We saw lot's of family....my brothers daughter Cat who lives in the city.  Since we live in Atlanta we drive everywhere and decided to drive into Chicago....what the heck were we thinking?  And that is what everyone said to us.  Stupid tourist.

And how ironic that I picked up this book to read....it's good but of course you know how it is going to end which is sad.

Are y'all ready for some good news yet?  I mean right?

Well next Monday one of my projects is getting photographed for Southern Home!

It's owned by Hoffman Media and I am pretty pumped!

I went house hunting with a friend....which I could do everyday all day.

All stairs will now be painted white with cute runners [this one from Dash and Albert].  It won't hurt to have brick floors at the bottom either.

This homeowner painted these dining room walls.....yes please.

Of course I love a good gallery wall but grids are my jam....

The one she ended up purchasing had these window treatments in the bedroom.....we were all fighting over them until she turned and said "um I'm keeping these babies"....

Oh yeah....of course....right.

AND.....you might notice that I had a little blog refresh!  My favorite girl Shari from Little Blue Deer worked her magic!

I like to just call her up and say "do your thing".....

OK....enough about my life.  Back to deliveries, design plans and getting through the Atlanta humidity with my hair.

NEW DESIGN PLAN

Crikey I am so glad it's Friday.  How about you:)

I have to tell you that we watched the last season of the Netflix series Bloodline.  Y'all it was painful.

I remember watching the first 2 seasons and it was slow but season 3 took it to a new level.....like watching snails crawl.   Not only did it creep along.... the storyline was all over the place and the acting sucked.  I wanted to punch all of them in the face......for wasting my time.

I've got a new design plan to share with you today.

A friend of mine bought a place at Manchester by Hedgewood Homes.

I've been helping her put together the kitchen, lighting and furniture plan!

We are changing this suggestion a little by flipping the dining and LR.  There is actually not a balcony but a large window so we are putting the DR table there.....

In the kitchen we are doing white cabinets with a black island. Similar to the picture below.  White Carrara marble on the island and honed black granite on the perimeter cabinets.

SHOPPING AT AMERICAS MART IN ATLANTA

I know y'all are holding your breath for updates on my foot right?  Well....since I have been wearing my Fitflops there seems to be about a 5% improvement!  Of course I am not sure if it is everything thing else I am doing in conjunction with....ha ha.

I am nothing if not diligent.

2 weeks ago I spent some time at Americas Mart here in Atlanta which was showing all of the new home merchandise.

Lord.....it's like heaven on one hand and then.....hell.  I want it all.

Starting with this wallpaper I saw at Gabby

It is a Thibaut pattern that I blogged about a while ago.

And these floors at Gabby.....

I mean.....say no more right?

I fell hard for this new chandelier.

I headed over to Codarus and saw this new art collection from Dana Gibson for Soicher Marin

 Hubba Hubba.... black and white.

I was looking for some rugs...and headed to Surya

Then to Dash and Albert....

I got this little indoor/outdoor number for my kitchen.

But I liked this one also.....

And this blue plaid one for my client's kitchen

This was my second choice.

Maybe I got this one for me.....just saying.

I love their performance rugs.....great for kids and pets.  I used this one several years ago in a kitchen keeping area.

Then I saw these new hand painted fabrics from Design Legacy....Kelly ONeal.

Dayum.....they are good.

Last week I started moving my client into her home after a year long renovation!  This is the exciting part right?

The curtains were installed and I started accessorizing THREE rooms of bookcases....note to self...."what was I thinking when I said let's do bookcases"!

These were my first go around and I have a lot of work to do:)

Stay tuned for more updates on this project.

You guys have a great week.....

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DESIGNER ALONG WITH A BEFORE AND AFTER.....

Yesterday was a hard day at work.  Yes I know I'm not curing cancer but still.....

I was happy to finally install these curtains since the fabric was backordered for months!  I got there with my acrylic rods and gold hardware all excited to see these navy blue silk babies go up and it was like trying to squeeze into your favorite jeans after the holidays.  They were too small.....meaning they were too short.

What!  No come on let's measure again....huh....nooooooooo.  Are you kidding me?  Call workroom....blah blah blah.  Bottom line.....my fault.  Scratching head....how the heck did this happen?  I have been measuring windows for 20 years people...... #apparentlynotgoodatmath  #epicfail

I am not usually this emotional but I started crying.  My installer gave me a look that said "toughen up girl" and that did not help at all.

So these windows are still bare.

In other news.....I was happy with how the porch turned out!

This had been a 6 month project adding on to the back of the house with a new porch and 2 car garage.

The Lee Industries outdoor furniture had been delivered along with the Dash and Albert rug.

We wanted coffee tables that would double as seating.....

So we ordered 2 of these ottomans from Ballard Designs.

Perfect.

Added some pillows....big surprise there huh:)

I wanted to get some nice bushy plants but it is so cold here in Atlanta that wasn't going to work!

As I was driving back to my workroom with the curtains in my trunk I stopped for a nice nutritious lunch.  I am nothing if not resilient

It's all going to be OK......I was probably more disappointed than my client.  She was so understanding.

And life goes on right?

Shamathwiz :)
