DINING ROOM

I was perusing the website of CB2 the other day looking for a few inexpensive accessories and came across this awesome settee.

It's cute huh?   Looks like something from Annie Selke.....

So I kept looking because of course once you get to a site you HAVE to go down that hole.

Feast your eyes this precious pink number...

A great black and white rug.
I didn't  know they had wallpaper.

And this swell lighting that could replace the dreaded "boob light".

Damn cute pillow.

And check out their vases while you are there.....

Anyway.....back to that settee and how you could use it.....

I want this dining area for the beach house!  Since the pattern has circles I pared it with a stripe rug.  By using the raffia wallpaper it will help to  tone down the color..... the same with natural wood chairs.

Sources:
rug: Dash and Albert
white table: Crate and Barrel
mirror: Serena and Lily
sconces: Stray Dog Designs
light fixture: Currey and Co
chairs: Ballard Designs
green glass vases:  Ballard Designs
art:  Wendy O'Connor
pillows:  Ballard Designs
window treatment:  Restoration Hardware
wallpaper:  Thibaut

Hope you guys had a great weekend.  We got some much needed rain here in Atlanta and for some reason I got nothing done.  I compare myself to most of you who are "diying", rearranging furniture and painting up a storm!

I need to get with the program.

MY FAVORITE BAR STOOLS

Before we get to bar stools I have a little announcement to make.

Yup.....It's that time again.

Starting next week [April 3rd] I will be checking in with y'all  every Wednesday with updates.....whether I have something interesting or not.  Since this is my 4th time around I am getting good at winging it:)

Come back to see the list of very talented designers/bloggers that Linda gathered for you!

You can also participate in the linkup so check here for those details.

I can't give you the scoop yet because it is all top secret....think Maxwell Smart....

But soon.....

Meanwhile back at the design desk....

I have been sourcing barstools and thought I would share some of my favorites with you.

I think these are cute and urban.

Ballard Designs
This is a classic and good for kids.  Light weight.

I love the "parisian" look....

Same look from PB.

West Elm
Nice and comfy plus swivel!

These will be good for tight spaces....can be shoved in close.

Just a great deal and they come in other colors.

A classic and they are very similar to a Lee Industries model.

Nice modern look....

Again....good with kids cause they won't show dirt.

Same style. Think texture....in a room full of hard spaces [kitchen]

Similar to the Target ones with more modern lines.

Again...color...simple.

These are great because you could add some color or pattern recovering the seat cushion.

Get your "palm beach" look on. Again...recover the seats in a great fabric.

So cute.

CB 2

Of course each one of these sites have so many more selections....but these are some of my favorites.

Which reminds me that I might need some new ones:)

Gotta get cracking and do some work.

DESIGN BOARD

I thought I would go into some detail on my previous post which featured the work of Monique Gibson.  The room was full of beautiful neutral monochromatic furniture and accessories.

Boring for some I know.....and heaven for others [me] right?

A lot of you like that look but are not quite sure how to achieve it.  I have mentioned before that it is all about texture and  different shades of the same color.

I took one of the images and put together a board with the same look.

Starting with a modern sofa from Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams.

I love the neutrality of it without being cream or white.  The modern classic lines will always be in style.

This heather gray rug is from Restoration Hardware.  Again it is not a match to the sofa but just another layer in building this room.

I found this art from Atlanta artist Todd Murphy and it is very similar to the same one Monique used.  This create a major focal point in the room.

So here is what I came up with.

Let's look at all the different texture in the room!  There is very little pattern....pretty much just the poufs.

Sheer linen curtains with black iron hardware.
Fur throw [RH]
Different shades of solid wool pillows [RH]

Leather Chairs [West Elm] [which also pick up the same tones that are in the art work]

The poufs [West Elm]
Small metal table [Crate and Barrel]
Tall metal lamp [Wisteria]
A good mix of modern and found [the old chest] plus some added bling with the round brass mirror.

The coffee table and round wood table are from Pottery Barn.
The horse is from RH.

Of course good luck getting anything from RH....they are killing me with taking so long to get merchandise.

"Dear RH.....change something to make it easier for us to shop your store and actually receive the merchandise in a timely manner."

Just saying.

Just recently I started putting together a similar design plan for a client.

It includes my new favorite wallpaper from Thibaut.

Do you love?  Seriously the background color with the gold....shut it down.

OK...we got a little off task here and it became about me.

I hope this was helpful if you are trying to achieve this look in your own home....or you can just hire me and I will do all of the work for you.

Alrighty then.....I have to get busy and start this day.

THIS AND THAT

Quite the catchy title huh?  These last few weeks have been full of before and afters.....and I feel like I have hit the bottom of the ice cream container.  It will take time to make more:)

So I did what any self respecting blogger would do and scrolled through my pictures.  I  came up with some pretty to share with you....whew.

Here are a few things I saw while shopping for those jobs.

This rug at World Market.  You could have bound it with any other color and I would have walked on by but you slap a little blue on something and I get positively giddy.

Same with black & white!  This pillow cover at Crate and Barrel

Pottery Barn score big points with me on this duvet cover.  Dayum.  Iwantsobadly.

You remember when I found this wood table at HomeGoods and used it in a project....I saw it again just the other day [79.00].  I have seen it on Overstock for more than double the price!

I wanted to show you the other color ways that Designer Guild fabric comes in...Here is the one I used with a cream background.

This is a yellow background.

And a white background...

Love all.

At the mart Chelsea Textiles [known for their beautiful Gustavian and French Country reproductions showed us some modern pieces.

Gustavian

Country French

Mid Century Modern

Loving the handles.

And these.

A few chairs that caught my eye on the website.

 This one....

These spoke to me in a dream.....buy me please.

We are expecting a light dusting of snow...maybe 1".  That means it is panic time in the south.  I just borrowed this picture from FB from one of my friends.
I don't know about you but if I am stuck in a 1" snowstorm I do not want to exist on bread and milk.   My preference would be chocolate and wine.... the staples.  Just sayin.

Crikey people.

This is the winter that will have people dancing in the streets neked when spring finally rolls around.
